The Roncalli International Foundation establishes an emergency fund for all religious congregations working in Haiti

Montreal, January 14, 2010 – The Roncalli International Foundation, like all Canadians, is deeply touched by the extent of the devastation left by the earthquake and wishes to express its support to the Haitian people and to all the religious congregations working in Haiti.

Our Foundation’s mission is to manifest the compassion and the Providence of God to the most destitute people of developing countries in an effort to relieve hardship caused by injustice and disasters. In this spirit, we are mobilizing to assist the Haitian people, with the support of the Foundation’s partners.

For more than 30 years, the Roncalli Foundation has supported the religious congregations working in Haiti and, as a response to this late catastrophe, has created an Emergency Relief Fund - Haiti to help these congregations with their most urgent needs. These religious congregations are actively involved with the Haitian population.

Today, we appeal to your generosity. Please make a donation to Emergency Relief Fund - Haiti:

Funds received are intended to provide assistance to religious congregations working in Haiti and their deeds once the specific needs are reviewed. The Foundation will disclose all information regarding these needs and the way the funds were used. In 2009, approximately 15% of our total aid budget was granted to projects in Haiti. This year, the Foundation wishes to fully pursue its annual commitment for all projects planned to take place in Haiti.
